Next session of congress starts by transfer from mother to son…

DELHI: The passing of the Congress baton to the young leader couldn’t have been more apparent. The transfer of duties from mother to son had finally taken place .
From Rahul’s speech it clearly known that emphatic was his big step forward that the party’s decision not to formally declare him as its PM candidate was rendered irrelevant. If Congress were to form the government, there’s little or no question as to who will be Prime Minister.
By the time of finishing speak, anxiety had given way to reassurance.” Aaj Pappu pass ho gaya”, said a delegate from UP who obviously did not wish to be identified.
He said that PMs were elected by MPs, not before elections. But he left no one in doubt that he was ready to be the PM if the party managed the required numbers. “I want to tell you one thing more, I am a sincere sepoy of the Congress and I am ready to do whatever my party asks me to do. You just order and I shall obey,” he said
The BJP’s PM candidate was mocked as man of all glitz and a skilled salesman. “They are so good at marketing that they can sell combs to the bald,” said Rahul. AAP wasn’t spared either. “We now have a new bunch who are even better at it. They have even opened hair cutting salons for the bald,” said Rahul, displaying a new streak of sarcasm and aggression.
He promised that at least 15 party candidates in the Lok Sabha polls would be nominated on the recommendation of workers, and expressed his wish to see half the party posts, including CMs, occupied by women.
While the meeting started and ended with the chorus for Rahul to be declared the PM candidate despite the CWC decision to the contrary a day earlier, the proceedings through the day was punctuated by cries for the youth to take the lead. This led to party men commenting that the elders have played their innings. Rahul once turned to the gathering and remarked that the hall was full of Congressmen who were “young” and, after a brief pause, added also by those who were “not so young.” Led by Rahul, the crowd cheered the senior leaders.
However, the warm cheers for the seniors could not mask the cold-hearted fact – an era was drawing to a close in the Congress and a new dawn was rising.
