At a joint press conference attended by DMDK president Vijayakanth, PMK leader Dr S AnbumaniRamadoss, MDMK general secretary Vaiko and IJK supremo T R Pachamuthu among others, BJP national president Rajnath Singh announced that it was a formidable alliance.
He said that the party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi would campaign in Tamilnadu and they are starting at the right time. He also said the Advani issue (over contesting from which seat) would be left to his (Advani’s) choice.
It was announced in the meeting that the DMDK would contest in 14 seats, the BJP and the PMK in eight each , the MDMK in seven, and the IJK, Kongu Nadu MakkalDesiyaKatchi and NR Congress in one each,
Following are the seats allocated to each party in the alliance
DMDK: Thiruvallur, Central Chennai, North Chennai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Dindigul, Trichy, Cuddalore, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Tiruppur
BJP: South Chennai, Vellore, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Thanjavur, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Kanyakumari
PMK: Arakkonam, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Arani, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam
MDMK: Kanchipuram, Erode, Theni, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Sriperumbudur, Tenkasi
