Open letter from prisoner no 3642 in Tihar jail , Arvind Kejriwal …

Prisoner number 3642 in Delhi’s Tihar Jail wants to reach out to all Delhiites and is seeking their support in his fight against corruption. In ordinary circumstances it may have gone unnoticed but the letter of this prisoner – former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal – seems to be starting of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) election campaign for fresh Delhi Assembly elections.

The letter came in the evening even as a meeting of AAP’s volunteers, supporters and leaders was on at Constitution Club in the national capital which came after Kejriwal in afternoon again refused to pay bail bond and preferred to remain in jail. He has been sent to jail till June 6 now.

AAP’s volunteers will now reach out to Delhiites taking Kejriwal’s message through his letter to them. The strategy seems a step to again take the position of a crusader in hearts of Delhiites who apparently seems to be angry with his party for resigning from Delhi government on issue of stalling of Jan Lokpal in Delhi Assembly.

AAP leaders feel the letter over Arvind Kejriwal remaining in jail, while alleged corrupt leaders roaming free, is a perfect way to reach out to people in the national capital.

The letter opens with Kejriwal stating that he was stunned and unable to understand his crime when a city court sent him to jail on May 21.

The AAP leader said he had exposed BJP leader Nitin Gadkari who today is roaming free while he is in jail. “I am being asked to take bail. For what crime should I take bail? Corruption has been done by leaders like Nitin Gadkari, A Raja and Suresh Kalmadi …. Bail should be sought by them,” said Kejriwal in his letter.
