Kaththi has been ridden by many controversies ever since it was revealed that it is produced by Lyca Mobiles, whose owner is a close friend of Lankan president Rajapakse, who is the most-hated Lankan in Tamil Nadu. Rajapakse’s reputation took a further blow when the Sri Lankan defence ministry carried derogatory remarks against chief-minister Jayalalithaa last Friday and withdrew soon after criticisms were voiced.
The audio-launch of Kaththi is slated to be held in London in September. In order to ensure that the film doesn’t face protests at the time of its release, the film’s crew has been saying that the producer isn’t a friend of Rajapakse but a Tamil affected by the anti-Tamil genocide which took place in Lanka a few years back.
After meeting Seeman and Thirumavalavan, Murugadoss is to meet MDMK general secretary Vaiko. Observers point out that Murugadoss’ meeting with these leaders is not likely to result in a positive situation in his favour.
