J.Jayalalithaa who is the CM of Tamilnadu, now she has been elected as the general secretary of her party AIADMK.
This was formally announced in Chennai yesterday by the party’s organizing secretary Visalatchi Nedunchezhiyan who was appointed as the ‘election commissioner’ to conduct the elections to elect the party’s general secretary. The result was announced at the AIADMK’s Avvai Shanmugam Salai headquarters in the city.
The party HQ wore a festive look with all the roads leading to the party office getting decorated with AIADMK flags and cut-outs and banners of chief-minister Jayalalithaa.
AIADMK cadres lined up at both sides of the roads and raised slogans in praise of the chief-minister when she arrived at the party HQ around noon. She was welcomed with full honours at the HQ.
Soon after Jayalalithaa’s arrival, Visalatchi read out the election results. “On Aug. 19th, an announcement about the elections to elect the party’s general secretary was made. Nominations in this regard were received from 20-24 at the party’s HQ.
It turned out that all the nominations were filed on behalf on chief-minister Amma alone. Nominations received were found to be in order as per the party’s rules and regulations.
“It is hereby announced happily that as per Rule 22, section 2 of the laws governing the party, chief-minister Jayalalaithaa has been unanimously elected as the party’s general secretary by all the party cadres and workers at the grassroots level,” she said.
This is the 7th time that Jayalalithaa has been chosen as general secretary of the party. After she was presented bouquet by Visalatchi, all the ministers, M.P.s, MLAs and other party functionaries presented bouquets and shawls to Jayalalithaa to wish her.
