Nagarjuna Akkineni the dashing and debonair actor of Southern cinema turns 55 today. Raaga.Com wishes him birthday greetings and grand success in future.
Nagarjuna Akkineni is on sky nine thanks to the success of his just released Telugu family-comedy “MANAM”, which also features his late father Akkineni Nageswara Rao and son Akkineni Naga Chaitanya. Readers may recall in the early 70’s Bollywood Showman Raj Kapoor had the privilege of making a film with his father (Prithiviraj Kapoor) and son Randhir Kapoor in the movie KAL AAJ AUR KAL.
Nagarjuna Akkineni said, “I am obliged to my director Vikram, for the movie’s success. In addition I also thank Vinod, Harsha, Anoop, Rajeevan, Nalini, Chuniya and all the MANAM team for this classic. He also thanked his niece Supriya for her services in the making of the film.
Speaking about the movie MANAM he said, “The movie his very close to my heart because it is my dad’s last film. Hence I gave the director Vikram a free hand to focus on each and every scene sensibly and give me a well cut diamond film. Thankfully Vikran did and has lived up to my expectation of the audience as well.”
Recalling about the dedication of his father to the film Nagarjuna said, “I know my dad’s devotion for his films but what touched me most was that despite being operated and advised by doctors for complete bed rest, he rebelled and turned up at the studio to complete the remaining three days of the shoot of MANAM.”
Nagarjuna, fondly called Nag, by his fans, turns 55 today. He may have turned a year older, but he says: “Retirement is the last thing on my mind.”
“I don’t think I will ever retire, but gradually like Amitji , I will think of doing different kinds of roles. I will slowly start taking up roles where I don’t have to singlehandedly take the burden of a film on my shoulders like I’m doing now as a hero,” he said.
