Welcome to the coverage of Match 1 in the Champions League Twenty20 between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders from the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket stadium in Hyderabad.
Kolkata Knight Riders chased the moderate total of 157 runs at the loss of seven wickets with one over to spare against Chennai.
Super Kings made early inroads to have Kolkata on the mat. However, Russell(58) and Ten Doeschate(51) mounted a counter-punching 80 run-union off only 45 balls to even up the proceedings.
The Jamaican all-rounder, in particular, used the depth of his crease to good effect to swat and whack balls over wide long-on and mid-wicket. Tendo was not far behind either.
Though Russell was undone by Nehra’s yorker at the end, the T20 mercenary in Tendo and Chawla, saw Kolkata to the finish line, igniting a winning start to their CLT20 campaign.
The Chennai pacers, led by Nehra, were on target upfront. Ashwin and Jaddu though leaked runs in the middle as well as at the death.
