ISRO is planning a second Mars Mission in 2018, this time with heavier satellite that will carry a lander and rover.

The report quoted ISRO’s Centre Director S Shiva Kumar as saying that the second mission will be to conduct more experiments for which they have to develop new technologies.

On Sept 24, the state-run space agency, ISRO, successfully inserted its spacecraft, the Mangalyaan in the Martian orbit with five scientific instruments to search for life-sustaining elements on the planet.

The success of the first Mars Mission made India the first Asian country to have done so.
