Australia declared shortly after tea on day two of the fourth Test against India, but not before Ryan Harris set the SCG alight with some brutal hitting.

The big fast bowler relished his opportunity to swing the bat, belting 25 runs off just nine balls before being caught on the boundary, prompting captain Steve Smith to close the innings at 7-572.

Rookie Joe Burns (58) scored his maiden Test half-century before he holed out to KL Rahul off the bowling of Mohammed Shami – who finished with five wickets for the innings.

Burns’ innings meant every one of Australia’s top six batsmen passed 50, while wicketkeeper Brad Haddin was not out on nine when Smith sent the Indians in.
