Website Cleanup Audit Checklist

Use this checklist to review the public cleanup, trust, indexing, AdSense readiness, and tracking signals that often block small WordPress sites.

Homepage and navigation

  • The homepage explains who the site helps and what problem it solves.
  • Primary navigation is stable, readable, and not overloaded.
  • Visitors can reach Library, Start Here, Services, and Contact without guessing.
  • The main CTA is clear without making ranking, revenue, traffic, or approval promises.

Trust and contact path

  • About, Contact, Privacy, Terms, and Editorial Policy pages are visible and consistent.
  • The public email or form path is appropriate for the request being made.
  • The site does not expose admin-only or private email addresses publicly.
  • Any affiliate or product guidance has a clear disclosure if relevant.

WordPress cleanup leftovers

  • No sample pages, demo posts, staging references, placeholder filler text, or unfinished template blocks are public.
  • No visible PHP/plugin warnings appear on public pages.
  • Footer, menu, and page titles do not show default WordPress wording.
  • Important pages have one clear H1 and logical section headings.

Sitemap, indexing, and AdSense readiness

  • Sitemap URLs point to the clean public versions of important pages.
  • Noindex/canonical choices match the pages the site wants Google to evaluate.
  • Content pages are useful as standalone resources, not just pathways to a service.
  • Thin, duplicate, or off-topic pages are repaired, merged, de-emphasized, or documented for future noindex/redirect review.

Analytics and inquiry tracking

  • Core pages have page-view visibility.
  • Important CTAs can be measured as click events where safe.
  • Forms record form-start, submit, and submit-error events where possible.
  • Manual inbox leads remain the source of truth until backend conversion reporting is proven.

Final review questions

  1. Would a reader get useful next steps even if they never buy?
  2. Would a small business owner understand what cleanup help is available?
  3. Is the audit request path easy to find and safe to use?
  4. Are all claims conservative and verifiable?
